Overview and Significance

Mohanji’s contribution to the world is a unique mix of spiritual wisdom, practical living, and compassionate guidance that acts as a melting pot of various ideas, philosophies, and experiences of many spiritual traditions of the world. Mohanji effortlessly distills the essence from complex philosophies and practically applies them to illuminate the condition of humanity today. By doing this, by addressing that which actually stands before him in the world, he has been able to bring about a tremendous amount of timeless and practical transformation. He draws inspiration from the great ancient spiritual traditions of the East, especially the Dattatreya-Avadhuta, Nath, Siddha, Shaivite and Kriya traditions.

In the Dattatreya Tradition, all Masters are seen as representations of the one Divine Consciousness and exist for the singular purpose of helping people experience total liberation and freedom from all that binds them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Liberation is complete unconditional freedom from all attachments to the senses, mind, intellect, ego, inside and outside worlds. Mohanji’s words demonstrate this freedom: ‘I have walked this Earth, more or less alone, since my youth or probably even before. My dependencies on people and materials were very limited. Even now, I feel that I’m not bound by people, time, space, or materials; maybe very mildly but not substantially bound, or not bound in a very strong, strong way.

Mohanji describes himself as a humanitarian and promotes the idea of humanity as the best religion. His vision is to unite all beings on Earth to live in peace, harmony and unconditional love, beyond all species, boundaries, and creed as One World – One Family. He strongly advocates a lifestyle of ahimsa (non-violence) – no beings on the planet should have to live in fear because of humans.

But what is Mohanji’s unique take on non-violence? Unlike current dogma, Mohanji does not see non-violence as an act that needs to be performed, a religion, or an ideology, but as the highest form of righteous duty, the essence of the true natural and a fully aligned state of humanity. Mohanji says: ‘What is the world? We are the world! We decide how the world should be. Let us decide that the world should be harmonious. The world should have one religion, humanity. Humanity also means all-encompassing kindness, compassion, unconditional love, and selflessness towards all beings of the Earth.

Mohanji brings a distinctive and refreshing world view – the amalgamations of the pinnacle truths sang by many Traditions – best described by his philosophy: ‘Non-violence is my religion, Peace is my path, Discussion is my method, Selfless service is my expression,  and Unconditional Love is my base.

Preferring to call himself a ‘Friend of the World,’ Mohanji atypically avoids putting himself into any frame or category and wants his life to be his message. He lives for the world and its people by putting others’ welfare before his own. He lives his teachings of being in constant flow and adaptiveness. When people seek his advice on spiritual matters, he becomes a teacher. When people seek solace, he becomes an empathetic listener. When people seek inspiration, he becomes a muse that brings clarity and purpose. When people seek family advice, he becomes a loving family elder. When people seek help with finance and business, he becomes a successful businessman heading a multinational organisation.  People connect to him as per their orientation. Whether he delivers teachings of profound spiritual truths or some practical advice, in essence, Mohanji’s distinctive contribution is always pragmatic, simplistic, and adapted to his audience in such a way that ensures that no one who comes to him leaves empty-handed.

Although Mohanji only made his official entrance as a public figure in 2012, he has made a significant contribution to the world, bringing immense personal transformation and social reform.  He travels extensively throughout the world in response to those who love him, asks for his presence, or call for liberation. He spends his energy and time establishing new communities based on faith, purity and unconditional love, and independent humanitarian initiatives. Mohanji has founded various foundations, registered in fifteen countries, spanning five continents, and activities are conducted in over eighty countries worldwide.

Mohanji has founded various charities, organisations, and initiatives such as ACT4Hunger, Ammucare, ACT Foundation, Mohanji Foundation, Mohanji Youth Club, Himalayan School of Traditional Yoga, Himalayan School of Traditional  Dance, Himalayan School of Traditional Languages, Early Birds Club (Adults, Teens, and Kids), GuruLight, Healers without Boundaries, and World Consciousness Alliance. He has also inspired Divine M Heritage, Ahimsa Vegan Café, Vegan First, and the Ahimsa Space. In addition, he has trained over a hundred dedicated people committed to serving the world to be Mohanji Acharyas. Their role is to be living examples of the principles of the Tradition and ensure Mohanji’s presence in all corners of the world by spreading his universal teachings.

'I connect when you connect. I connect when you do not connect too, just like electricity stays at the switchboard on your wall.'
'When you think or talk about me, irrespective of whether it is good or bad, you are connected to my consciousness.'
'I am always with you, whether you see me, feel me, or awaken in me.'
'I am not the body. I am the CONSCIOUSNESS that this body represents. There is no distance in consciousness.'

Life History

Mohanji’s life story is incredibly human.  Unlike many other spiritual giants of his stature, Mohanji eschewed the life of a hermit living deep in the remote Himalayas, far away from the instabilities of the human condition. Instead, he chose to live as a regular householder to show that an everyday person can live a free and liberated existence, despite the varied challenges of living as one in a fast-paced society.

Mohanji’s mother remarked that Mohanji was born smiling on February 23rd, 1965. Possibly he smiled due to the innate knowledge of his chosen purpose and a stoic acceptance of the trials and tribulations that awaited him. He strolled along from childhood to adolescence and then onto early youth, following the social norms of the majority. However, the mundane teaching in a school that focused on memorising rather than learning did not inspire him. He did not fail any class but refused to spend much time or energy to excel.

In Mohanji’s own words: ‘In a nutshell, my life, like everyone else’s, had distinct stages – an impressionable, explorative childhood, the regular confused state of youth trying to understand the individual purpose on earth, and the auto-positioned adulthood that made me realise that nothing was in my control and hence nothing mattered anymore. The only essence from these stages was that everything was temporary. I had it, felt it, left it. My biggest challenge was positioning myself in a society conditioned and structured by concepts – expected to conform to and imprisoned by “approved and permissible” boundaries of expressions, a state I considered equal to death.‘

He obtained a postgraduate degree in literature and then transitioned into a career in the shipping industry as a dynamic leader with twenty-four years of senior management experience in the Middle East. Mohanji got married to Saritha in 1992, and their daughter Ammu resulted from their union, born in November 1995.

Then Mohanji’s journey of transformation began. The cruel wheel of destiny crushed an essential aspect of his life. While away on business, his four-year-old daughter died in a tragic road accident on 23rd August 2000. The loss of his only child left a massive void in his life. Ammu’s demise precipitated a series of encounters with compelling destiny – a separation from his wife, Saritha; his belongings getting stolen, losing his earnings, investments going sour, and eventually, losing his job. He was stranded with no family, no money, no property, and no job. In addition, he lost his health and suffered from a very painful skin condition for which no remedy was available.

His isolation, agony, pain and suffering eventually led him into a deep inner exploration and a search for the very meaning and purpose of life. After completing Ammu’s final rituals, he immediately left for the Himalayas, which eventually became his second home. A deep urge to serve society also took shape. Mohanji started ACT (Ammucare Charitable Trust) in 2003 as a platform for selfless service beyond all man-made barriers to support the helpless and needy. He longed to find the peace of silence and get away from the world of noises created through relationships, business, society, and so on. However, when he returned from the Himalayas, he found himself back in the world of noises and realised that the silence found in tranquil solitude is temporary. Thus ended his constant search for silence in the Himalayas and started his quest for silence amid the noise.

For many years, Mohanji’s process of stabilisation involved a disciplined but straightforward daily practice of meditation and self-inquiry from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m., which he describes as follows: ‘I used to withdraw myself into the shell (a room) that I had created like a cave in my house, with just a lamp and nothing else in that space. The flame of that lamp used to be my path, destination for concentration. I used to burn every aspect of myself as oil in that lamp, just like performing fire ceremonies. Thus, I used to sit in a dissolved state of total insignificance. Days and months, I concentrated on burning every aspect of myself. Offering all my stored materials such as feelings, emotions, pains, sorrows, concepts, likes, dislikes, insecurities, ownerships, loves, and prejudices, including personal boundaries into the fire. As the fire swallowed more and more, I started experiencing a concept-free, empty space within which I lost all compulsions to think, talk or act. Freedom and silence started blossoming. Thus eventually, Mohanji was born – beyond and without boundaries.‘ It took Mohanji ten years to stabilise and establish himself in that world of silence and eventually become one with it.

Turning Point
A turning point happened when a friend, deeply connected to Sathya Sai Baba, went to Kodaikanal to have Baba’s darshan. Mohanji describes this event:

I was in Dubai at that time. I happened to speak to him just before he left. He told me that he would have Baba’s darshan and that he would like me to pray to Baba to grant him a private interview. It was very rare and difficult to get Baba’s private interview. And it was entirely Baba’s choice. I felt intrigued. I was much junior to him when it came to connection with Baba. I had known of Baba only since the early 2000s. He had been with Baba many more years. How could I pray to Baba for him? Moreover, he had served as a seva dal member (volunteer) at Baba’s ashram in Puttaparthi, so Baba knew him well. Baba did not even “know” me. Such thoughts crossed my mind when he asked me to pray to Baba.

He also told me that he was carrying many letters to be handed over to Baba and promised that he would also bring a letter for me, even though I had never asked him to. He knew me so well and all I had been going through since the death of my daughter. Indeed, he wrote all about my state and status at that time in the letter and took it in a sealed envelope to hand to Baba, should he be called for an interview. I was pretty sure that my prayers carried no weight. Yet since he asked me to pray, I prayed, ‘Baba, if it is your will, please grant an interview to my friend.‘ I did that and forgot about the whole incident. Almost three days later, I got a call from this extremely excited friend. He was shouting, “Big Miracle. Big Miracle!!!” I asked him to calm down and narrate. He could not contain his joy.

He said, “Baba called me for the interview. I was alone in the room. I had all those letters with me. Baba picked up only one letter from these. It was the one about you. He kept your letter on his lap and started patting it somewhat jokingly.

He said, “You are writing to me about Mohan? I know him inside out. I don’t need any letter about him. I tested him so hard in this life, so much that if it were anybody else, he would have committed suicide. I removed everything dear to him, including his daughter, property, money, and job. I gave him an illness. Now I will not abandon him. I will walk with him every step. I will take care of him.

Hearing this, tears flowed from my eyes. First of all, I was so thankful to my friend for writing this letter for me and taking it to Baba even though I had never asked him. Secondly, to Baba for extending his kindness like a long-awaited rain in the sun-beaten desert. After Ammu’s death, I lost almost everything that I had collected from earth one by one. The last one was the job. Then I contracted this terrible allergy, which made my body miserable. I didn’t even have sufficient money for a decent existence. Baba’s soothing words eased my pain. Even though I was going through severe agony, I never complained to Baba or anyone for that matter. This was a turning point in my life, one of many.

Within a week or two after this incident, I was woken up from deep sleep in the middle of the night. It was Sai Baba. I felt His presence right next to me. It was unmistakable. He woke me up and asked me to chant a particular mantra. I promptly sat up on my bed and started chanting. He said, “Not now. From tomorrow onwards after taking a bath!” Thus, he started talking to me. Then the talking became frequent. One day, I asked him, “You are calling many people to your abode and giving them many things. Why have you kept me so far away?” This question came because I wanted to visit Baba during Baba’s next visit to Kodaikanal. He told me not to come and concentrate on my work. It was right. If I had left then, I would have lost my job.

When I asked the above question, Baba promptly answered, “Do you believe that all those people who are with me here are closer to me than you? I am with you all the time, while they are with me all the time. Which is better – me holding your hand or you holding my hand? If you hold my hand, you may leave it at any time. When I hold your hand, I never leave it.

I was humbled. Soon after that, Baba Himself prescribed a medicine for my terrible skin allergy. It was not available in Dubai, which Baba Himself said through a channel, and I got its UAE equivalent. It helped my healing. Along with all these experiences of the high order, my life continued to be a roller coaster ride. Slowly, he stabilised many things. Meeting my wife Biba [later named Devi Mohan] amongst three hundred people was also orchestrated by Baba.

One night, I had a dream. I saw myself walking to a place where Baba was lying in a bed. While searching for Him, He suddenly came to me in a self-operated wheelchair. I prostrated at His feet. He asked, “What do you want?” I answered, “Just you, Baba.” He said, “I could give you everything right away. But you will not be able to handle the people who will come to you. I shall impart things slowly to you”. I said, “Your wish, Baba.” Soon afterward, the Power of Purity meditation was given to me. Later the 360-degree meditation came. By that time, I had some other communions – with Babaji and with Shirdi Sai Baba. I have narrated these in my blog posts “Babaji Beyond Definitions” Parts 1, 2, and 3, and “Sai and I.”

By the time I received the meditations, I had stopped looking at who was speaking to me at any point in time. It could be any Master. All are one. There was no difference between Shirdi Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Baba, and Babaji. All are one. When I received the meditation one early morning in 2007, I was curious about it. I had no clue what was being downloaded. When I knew it was a meditation, I asked Shirdi Sai Baba, “What shall I do with it? Meditate”? The answer came, “No. You should teach.” The introvert in me objected. “No, Baba, I am an introvert. I cannot go to people and present this meditation. I cannot do this.” The reply came, “That is not your job. People will come to you. When they come to you, understand that we send them. Impart knowledge to them without expectations.” Shirdi Sai Baba kept His promise.’

The Shiva Experience

In his blog, Mohanji has written about his experiences with a variety of Masters in the physical and on the subtle planes of higher consciousness. But one occasion stands out as very significant; when the limited entity called Mohan merged with Shiva, Parabrahma. The event happened on February 24th, 2007, and is well documented with photos and witnessed by several people. The description of the event and an explanation of its significance from Mohanji’s personal blog follows.

Mohanji explains that when a Master reaches a state where he has burnt all karma, sacred ash (vibhuti) sprouting out of sahasrara chakra (energy center chakra located on the crown of the head symbolised as a thousand-petalled lotus) is a sign of ultimate cleansing. When the last remnants of karmas are getting exhausted, then they are burnt and expelled with high intensity through the sahasrara chakra like a volcano, with high intensity. He describes this as typical of the Dattatreya Tradition, although an extraordinary event much beyond our comprehension. The first such event seen and recorded in modern times reveals the true stature of Mohanji being One with the Source.

It was the day after his birthday when he would usually feed needy children. But that day, he was not feeling well. He visited an ashram and started feeling nauseous. So, the residing Swami took him outside for a walk: ‘He took me out, and we walked to another house in the ashram complex, about 500 yards away. All I could remember was reaching that place, entering the hall, and sitting down on a chair near a table.

Sacred ash started coming out through the top of my head and then slowly falling down my body. My body was transparent, and a huge bright light was glowing from within. My eyelids became golden. The light penetrated my clothes and was radiating to the outside world. I expanded beyond description. Everything was within me. Mohan did not exist. That experience tilted my consciousness. My awareness level changed. As of then, I started shifting to different awareness levels effortlessly. The limited awareness of Mohan merged with the entire cosmos and became one with both the limited and unlimited existence. In that expanded state, one can only express Love, our very nature. I became every being, and every being became me.

When a seeker becomes the sought, his limited entity dissolves into that of unlimited nature. He becomes all-pervading, completely lucid and transparent, vibrant, shining, subtly dynamic, and exists in complete awareness. The momentary sourcing of data from the higher realms becomes effortless and continuous. In that state of complete bliss and love, the transformed entity will choose to lead many more souls to His stature – that of the Supreme. This is a pure act formed out of love and compassion. By doing this, he is guiding himself because everything is part of himself. It is as if some part of the body gets dirty; we wash and clean it. Just the same, when some souls search in darkness, liberated souls, with full understanding and awareness that those souls in darkness are essentially a part of themselves, lead them to light. By doing this, they are becoming more complete…

Devi Mohan appeared in Mohanji’s life in 2007 and was instrumental in bringing him into the limelight. She encouraged him to share his inner wealth so the world could benefit from his knowledge. Mohanji believes that Guru Mandala chose her to pull him out of his introversion and help him deliver the knowledge and wisdom found abundantly in his silence. Life is not without a sense of irony. Once he had established himself in silence, he was asked by Guru Mandala (the Masters of the Tradition) to go back into the world of noises to teach people how to attain inner silence and peace of mind. That was the start of Mohanji as we know him today.

Three months after the Shiva experience, Mohanji was given his first meditation, ‘Power of Purity,’ by the Masters guiding him. Later at different times, he received the ‘360-degree’ and other meditations from the depths of silence. With the meditations came Shaktipat – a transfer of the energies from higher realms of consciousness to the recipient. The first meditations started in Dubai in early 2007, combined with spiritual discourses. They were offered free of cost to all unconditionally. More meditations and techniques followed, which were eventually translated into many languages. These are freely available on the website and are also practiced individually and in groups across the globe.

Devi and Mohanji married in April 2010, and their daughter, Mila, was born in April 2011. Their marriage was a spiritual union of two people brought together for a higher purpose. Eventually, Mohanji quit his job in 2012 to dedicate his life towards the sole purpose of adding value to society with the firm conviction that one must improve the world through one’s presence in it.

Tradition and Gurus

Mohanji calls the tradition the Golden Tradition. It is a tradition whose only aim is liberation and merging with the one universal divinity. It is a tradition based on unconditional love, breaking through mind-created boundaries that separate us from our true selves and nature. Mohanji describes the tradition as follows: ‘The Golden Tradition exists to spread the message of true love, beyond all boundaries, and preserve the ultimate dharma (righteousness) of existence. Like an open river, it is all-encompassing. Its realm is the entire universe. If even one person seeks liberation, the Tradition will provide a guide. This is the promise of the Tradition where liberation is the sole aim and freedom is the way of life. Freedom from the mind is real freedom. When a student is eligible, the teacher appears. A teacher cannot deliver anything to a student who is not ripe and ready for knowledge. The whole universe comes together in the creation of true spiritual Masters. The entire universe is their operating plane. There are no walls or boundaries. The great Masters existing in various planes of the universe operate on one rhythm and purpose. They all are one. There are multiple forms because forms are needed to express. But, beyond all the forms is one single entity. One creator. One creation. One purpose.

As explained earlier, Mohanji is a melting pot of various traditions, which fits in with his  non-conformist nature. But if one has to try to describe the central tradition of Mohanji, then one realises that Mohanji follows the Dattatreya Tradition whilst using the instruments of the Nath Tradition. The Dattatreya Tradition is an ancient system of finding oneness with nature and living in the consistent silence of the boundless universal consciousness. This tradition originated from the perfect Yogi and first Avaduta, Lord Dattatreya

Lord Dattatreya completely immersed himself into universal consciousness by keenly observing nature and his environment. He always said that he had twenty-four Teachers: the earth, wind, sky, water, fire, the moon, the sun, some pigeons, a python, the ocean, a honeybee, a beekeeper, an elephant, a deer, a fish, a reformed prostitute, a small squirrel, a child, a hawk, a young housewife, an archer, a snake, a spider, and a wasp. Lord Datta has inspired, created, and codified many other traditions like the Nath tradition, Siddha Tradition, Shri Vidya Tradition, etc.

Mohanji says: ‘I follow the Dattatreya Tradition, the path of total dissolution; independence from the darkness of ignorance and the birth and death patterns. Our culture is that of ahimsa, respect, acceptance, and zero expectations. The permanent focus is on total liberation from all types of bindings that control life. Our religion is humanity and its highest possibilities. There are no man-made barriers. There are no agendas or targets. There is only being in life and being with life. The highest sadhana is living your highest truth at all times or living liberation. Life should never be wasted on theories. Always live with awareness by being well established only in the present.

Lord Dattatreya created such a unique and powerful impact; he became associated with being a simultaneous incarnation of the major pantheon of Sanatana Dharma deities, i.e., Lord Brahma (the creator), Lord Vishnu (the preserver), and Lord Shiva (the transformer).  Over time many great beings were identified as incarnations of the energy of Shri Dattatreya like Shri Pada Sri Vallabha, Shri Shirdi Sainath, Shri Manik Prabhu, Shri Swami Samarth, Bhagawan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri, etc. The Dattatreya Tradition has no external techniques to find liberation except the complete surrender to the energy that the teacher represents. This makes it difficult for novices to practice perfectly; therefore, Mohanji uses methods of the Navnath tradition to train the mind.

Mohanji speaks about the Navnath tradition: ‘The Navnath Tradition is one of the most powerful Traditions of India.  As I said earlier, there is a connection between all Traditions through the underground.  Outside it all looks like different rivers, but inside it’s the same water. The Nath Tradition has its origin from Lord Krishna.  When Lord Krishna was leaving his body, knowing that his teachings could get destroyed after leaving his body, he told Lord Dattatreya to codify the Nath Tradition. He asked the nine Narayanas, which are his own sequential parts, to come to Earth and attain the bodies of Navnath – nine Nath Gurus.  And in that Tradition, Adinath is Lord Shiva, and Balaknath is Babaji (Mahavatar Kriya Babaji).

Mohanji has had many profound encounters with the deathless Mahavatar Babaji. Mohanji describes his second encounter with Babaji – Babaji said, ‘Look here, you can actually tell the future of everybody and sit in one corner, and everybody will come to hear their future out of insecurity. Is this what you want to do, or would you like to take people to Liberation?‘  I said, ‘Definitely, I would like to take people to Liberation if I can.‘ Then he said, ‘Tathaastu. [So be it.]  Drop the siddhis [external spiritual powers].  You don’t need them. Drop them.‘

‘I have never checked if I have any powers afterward because I realise having powers is easy, but having the maturity to maintain them is very difficult.  Sometimes you get carried away – “oh, I know all these things, so I can probably do something.” That is a trap. The moment you start using any power, it becomes your trap.  People may appreciate you because you’re extraordinary, but that again is a trap.  If you’re walking the path of Liberation, everything is a trap.  So you might as well be empty – nothing.  And the highest feeling you get when you reach a particular stage is that you know nothing.  Then you are home.  Then you are fine.  If you feel you know something, your mind is involved. If you feel you know nothing – empty – good enough, you are fine.

Many contemporary Masters have conferred titles on Mohanji as a mark of respect and honor for his spiritual stature:

  1. Shri Shri Vittalananda Saraswati (Vittal Babaji) with Raja Yogi
  2. Thyagananda Sharma with Vishwa Kalyananda Bharati (the one who works for the welfare of the universe)
  3. Avadhoota Nadananda with Brahmarishi (the highest class of rishis or sages in Hinduism)
  4. Sage Agastya through Devi Amma with Jagat-Mitra (friend of the world) and then Vishwa-Mitra (friend of the universe).

Of these, Mohanji identifies most with Jagat-Mitra – the friend of the world. Even with the huge growth over these years, he remains simple and humble, staying unbound by society’s frames or concepts. He is available and accessible to all who wish to live free and liberated, giving his maximum in every situation, and adding value to the world unconditionally without expectations, in every moment of his existence.

The title conferred by Avadoota Nadananda, ‘Brahmarishi’, is significant and occurred on the auspicious day of Vijayadashami (Oct 2016). In Hinduism, a Brahmarishi belongs to the highest class of Rishis (‘seers’ or ‘sages’). A Brahmarishi is a sage who has attained enlightenment and has become a Jivanmukta [liberated Soul] by understanding the meaning of Brahman and having reached the highest divine knowledge and self-knowledge. As Avadoota Nadananda explained, he was taking this step on direct guidance from Guru Mandala (the Masters of the Tradition dedicated to the welfare of the universe).

After meeting Nadanandaji, a series of initiations happened from the Guru Mandala. Having waited for fourteen years to find the appropriate person who could take over his responsibilities, Guruji appointed Mohanji to be his successor in the lineage of Masters from Gyanganj and the receiver of Guruji’s spiritual bank balance earned from a life of performing sadhana and severe austerities.

Mohanji has also been recognised and acknowledged by various groups, organisations, structures and other spiritual Masters. For example, he was given the ‘Shivananda world peace award’ by Prince Ishwar, President of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation. Despite the acknowledgments from contemporary Masters and accolades, Mohanji never takes credit for anything but attributes everything to the Masters of Tradition to which he belongs – ‘The Guru principle eternally flows. So, how can I take ownership? I am only one of the mouths of eternity. Since I am following the tradition of the Great Masters, I attribute everything to the Great Masters of the past who delivered everything.

Teachings

The core of Mohanji’s teachings is the transformation of the individual human unit into the universe. The first step towards this is the alignment of body, mind-stuff (mind, intellect, and ego), and soul. This leads to grace which triggers the state of liberation from all bindings and habits of life.  Purity and faith are the pillars, and unconditional love is the foundation that leads one to a liberated existence.

Liberation

Freedom is freedom from senses, freedom from the mind, freedom from intellect and ego, freedom from the world, the outside world, detachment. This is freedom. A Master lives that, a true Master. Not the people who have learned from books and teaching. Learning from books and teachings is different from experience. One drop of experience is better than a thousand books. So, when I say a Master, somebody who has experienced himself, found himself, is a Master.‘ – Mohanji on Freedom.

Transformation comes from experiential spirituality only. Before knowledge becomes wisdom, it must be experienced through our senses, contemplated on, and digested. If spirituality is not experienced and processed, it has not yet become an integrated part of us. What we should look for in any spiritual process is whether any transformation has happened in our life. Transformation is losing our limiting concepts, fears, dependencies, thereby gaining inner peace, fewer thoughts, and inner stillness. That will give us the stability and clarity to go further on the path of dissolution.

Unconditional Love

Through compassion, acts of kindness, and unconditional love, we can transform the world. Adi Shankaracharya told the yogis who were meditating in the caves of the Himalayas that they must go into the world and share with people what they have in abundance; otherwise, further spiritual evolution is not possible.  We must serve to reach Liberation because we have to pay the rent of walking this Earth and what has been given to us in this life.

Mohanji too encourages all his followers to find new ways to serve the world constantly. Through various platforms within his Foundation, people are inspired to express themselves and their unique talents as per their capacity, adding value to society, making a better world for the helpless, empowering the weak, feeding the hungry. In addition, they are enhancing the level of awareness through meditation and other processes for people’s higher elevation.

Faith

Absolute faith and trust in your Master and the Tradition is essential for progressing in our journey. Without faith, it will not be possible for any Master to help you. Faith is connected to surrender of ownership and doer-ship. By consistently connecting to the Master on a consciousness level, we will eventually merge with Him and be allowed to go beyond our personal limitations.

‘If you have firm faith and conviction in your path, tradition, or Guru, that will lead you, guide you. All you need is strong faith and conviction. When asked how he received his powers, Baba Muktananda said, “I never asked my Guru (Bhagawan Nithyananda of Ganeshpuri) – WHY?”  He just followed the instructions of Bhagawan without questioning or analysing. His faith in his Guru gave him everything. This is the path of Shiva. The path of Dattatreya. This is the path of the Nath Gurus. All you have to do is take the plunge. The river itself takes you to the destination.

Purity

Only by becoming pure in every aspect can we reach the highest level of existence. ‘Whatever you take within should be pure. What is being pure? Something which is not selfish, something which is selfless. No rituals can bring that purity. Selfless actions elevate man to the highest. Purity is power. Purity is truth. Truth is pure. The whole universe resonates with truth and purity. When we live truth, purity happens. When we live a life of purity by consistently expressing purity through every thought, word, and action, we elevate ourselves to an existence of supreme consciousness.‘

More about Mohanji’s teachings can be found in his book ‘The Power of Purity,’ available in paperback and e-book on Gurulight, and Amazon.

Sacred Practices/Sadhana

'When embarking on a spiritual journey, first we should be clear about our destination. In the path of liberation, there is only one aim, the total dissolution of the bindings of the body, mind, and intellect. By the process of purification and practicing selfless service, we will become able to live a life of freedom while still walking the Earth.' 'The state of an Avadhuta is fully contented and self-sufficient. A state of inner richness, where we can have everything, but we don’t need anything from the outside world. Or you could say that you can enjoy everything from the world, but that is no longer your driving force.'

Mohanji Conscious Chanting – MCC integrates several yogic practices (e.g., posture, control of the breath, concentration, etc.) into a potent combination that develops individual consciousness, balances, and aligns the practitioner.

Traditional Yoga from the Himalayan School of Traditional Yoga (HSTY) looks at yoga not as just exercise but rather as a set of practices that help take one back to one’s original state. HSTY looks at yoga to increase the awareness of one’s body and align the system to allow the expansion of consciousness.

Mai-Tri Method is a profound method of deep cleansing and harmonising in which deep-seated subconscious blockages are removed, even from the subtlest layer of our existence – the causal body – where seeds of karmic impressions are stored.

In addition, Mohanji has provided a series of techniques for elevating consciousness and cleansing. These techniques are part of programs conducted by his Acharyas and include Conscious Walking, Conscious Dancing, Conscious Gapless Breathing, and Mohanji Transformation Process. In addition, online 21 days programs of meditation and contemplation are part of the service offered to people who cannot attend a retreat.

Miracles

There are many incidents of Mohanji’s intervention told by devotees that could be categorised as miracles or at least unexplainable and wondrous, i.e., testimonials of accidents avoided or of healing and personal transformation.

The Mohanji Testimonials team has collected some of them in the Mohanji Sacharitra:  The Guru Leela book series.

The first Guru Leela ‘Pearls of Experience With Mohanji,’ recounts the authentic experiences shared sincerely and honestly by followers from across the globe.

Volume 2, ‘Flowers of Gratitude to Mohanji,’ comprises stories from spiritual enthusiasts who have been connected to Mohanji for many years with faith, conviction, and consistency and have shared their life-transforming experiences.

Volume 3, ‘Grace that Heals,’ contains loving expressions from the hearts of those who have been healed in various ways – physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually by Mohanji’s divine energy and grace.

Volume 4, ‘Mohanji & I,’  presents exceptional experiences witnessed in different situations such as miraculous protection, fulfillment of a wish, or a glimpse of divinity.

In addition to the books, blogs written by devotees testify of encounters with his intervention, protection, and the transformative effects of his presence.
